SHUFRA di SHUFRA
After spending time in Italy, Jonny and Sharona found themselves drawn to the hills around Fermo and to the local way of life. What began as curiosity became a commitment to growing olives and making an oil that reflects this region as faithfully as possible.
A journey that led to Fermo
Travelling through Italy gave Jonny and Sharona time to understand how different regions shape the food grown there. When they reached Le Marche, they felt drawn to the place. The mix of sea air, mountain light and fertile hills made the landscape feel open and welcoming. Over time, they learned from local growers, explored the varieties native to the area and began to set down roots of their own.
Growing olives requires patience, and from the start that meant listening to the people who had known these hills all their lives. They worked with local experts to plant and cultivate young trees, experiment with different methods and learn how to care for the land. The aim was always the same: make something pure, and let the place be the guide.
ShufradiShufra now produces extra virgin olive oil that stays true to its origins, using local varieties and natural methods. Jonny and Sharona chose ceramic bottles to protect the oil and reduce waste, and they continue to move toward full organic certification. For them, this isn’t just a project but a way to work alongside the landscape and share what it naturally offers.
